Negotiations Between Sudan and South Sudan Began Wednesday Evening in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa — The delegations of Sudan and South Sudan for the negotiations Wednesday held a preliminary procedural sitting at Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa in the presence of the chairman of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel on Sudan, Thabo Mbeki.

The delegation of Sudan was chaired by the Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Idris Abdul-Gadir, while the delegation of South Sudan government was headed by the Cabinet Affairs Minister of South Sudan, Deng Alor.

The two delegations arrived in Addis Ababa to resume negotiation on the post-secession issues after reached in the past session an agreement on the oil issues.

It is to be recalled that Thabo Mbeki has visited Sudan and South Sudan and met with senior political leaders in Khartoum and Juba prior to convening the current session of negotiations.
