Boston Partners, owners of Boston Day Spa and Kuriftu Resorts in Ethiopia, and the Fairfax Africa Fund have reached an agreement to set up ten Kuriftu resorts all over East Africa.
The multi-milion dollar deal to launch the Ethiopian brand to the East African region was announced by Tadiwos Getachew, Chief Executive of Boston Partners and Yared Berhane, Senior Official at Fairfax at the annual Ethiopian Diaspora Forum organized in Washington DC. The amount of the investment planned for the project and the specific locations designated for the ten resorts was not disclosed at the announcement.
It is to be remembered that Tadiwos was selected to share the 2012 Pioneer Ethiopian Diaspora Business Person Award with Zemedeneh Negatu, Managing Partner of Ernst and Young, Ethiopia and Head of Transaction Advisory Services for Ernst and Young LLP in East Africa.
The award organized for the second time by an Ethiopian Diaspora business and investment group was held on the 14th of July at the Grand Hyatt Washington according to a statement released by the organizer.
Tadios and Zemedeneh were acknowledged for being inspirational role models for other Diaspora business people by being introducing innovation in their respective sectors and by taking risks in untested areas noted the statement.
The seventh annual Ethiopian Diaspora Business Forum was also be held on the same day at the Jack Morton Auditorium of the George Washington University according to the statement.
